- Orissa Governor has now asked the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to prove majority on the floor of the house on March 11.
- Naveen Patnaik has claimed the support of several Independents and the Left parties. Enough to cross the majority mark of 74 MLAs.
- His government fell to a minority on Saturday when his 11-year-old alliance with the BJP collapsed. The trigger for the collapse is that Patnaik wants a lot more seats for his party, the BJD, in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
- Patnaik spoke to CPI (M) General Secretary Prakash Karat on Saturday night after withdrawal of BJP support and senior party leader Sitaram Yechury will be here on Sunday to hold talks.CPI (M) Politburo member Brinda Karat said in case of a floor test, the CPI (M) MLA will support Patnaik.
